Meiyu

Meiyu (Chinese: 美玉 Měiyù, “Beautiful Jade”) is a playable Pyro character in Genshin Impact.

She is the child of one of the fallen Five Yakshas, placed in the care of Madame Ping along with Yanfei. She leads the fashion industry in Liyue, specialising in jewelry and metalwork.

Personality

Meiyu might seem extremely intimidating at first glance, but underneath her seemingly cold-blooded exterior is a warm, funny person. She loves fashion, specifically jewellery and spends some of her time crafting little trinkets and accessories for her friends. She enjoys many kinds of art, from calligraphy to sculpting to sketching, however she cannot cook. She is close to Yanfei, as Madame Ping raised them both from young, she sees Yanfei as a sister. She is also close to Hu Tao, and the three of them often adventure together, calling themselves the “Pyro Baddies”. She also gets along well with Beidou, and the two often go drinking together after a long day of sailing.

She founded the Mingxing Jewellery shop in the early days, before passing ownership on to Xingxi. She made the gold vision holders for most of the other vision havers, and designed many of their outfits. Occasionally she works with Master Zhang from Hanfeng’s Ironmongers to decorate weapons, as her pyro abilities allow her to work easily with metals, sculpting them into complex forms.

Because of her initial intimidating impression on people, many were scared of her at first but after spending so many years in Liyue, the citizens have warmed up to her and she is well-liked now. She isn’t the fondest of Childe after discovering his Fatui side, but remains close to Teucer and often makes him little toys to play with whenever he visits Liyue Harbor. Despite her grudges against Childe, the two actually share many similarities; confident to a fault, and tireless dedication to the people they love.

Appearance

Meiyu has slightly tanned skin and green cat slit eyes. She has long, brown hair that is half tied up in an elaborate hairdo. The rest is sectioned off into low pigtails, and her fringe covers her right eye. Her hairstyle is secured in place with a detailed gold headpiece that bears the slight resemblance to a dragon.
